Evening Strolls

As of late, I must confess, I've been a bit lazy. Work has been a flutter of information packed days with different trainings every week. My mind is constantly racing during the day so in the afternoon I like to workout, lounge about, relax and unwind.

One thing that I've started doing is once a week I go running to meet one of my friends and we get a glass of (well deserved) wine, chat, then I run back. The other day after we finished with our happy hour, my friend and I walked to Pipeline which is a little trail under the train tracks in Shockoe Bottom. The sun was starting to set so it was absolutely stunning and there were so many great blue herons everywhere. I was kicking myself for not having my camera but I'll definitely be going back to snap some shots of the birds fishing in the evening. The river also has some sandy beaches along the path where people lay out towels, hang up hammocks and enjoy the afternoon by the river.

Last Sunday Michael and I planned to go on a hike in Shenandoah National Park but we saw that the forecast for the area was nothing but rain and storms, plus it was going to be hot and humid all day so we napped and watched a movie instead... did I mention I've been lazy lately? But after we decided to go for a walk at Maymont and it was so peaceful... usually the park is packed but because we went an hour and a half before closing we got to wander around and chat without much interruption.

This weekend we're headed to the beach to celebrate Memorial Day and then not long after Michael and I will be jetting down to St. Lucia!! The rest of the summer will be hiking and camping whenever I feel like it- I've essentially ditched all planning I previously had because my life changes every week and it stresses me out when things I've planned don't happen. However, the one plan that remains is at the end of August, I WILL be flying out to Napa Valley with the boyfriend to visit family, celebrate my birthday, and drink some fantastic wine!
