Hello and happy 2018! Michael and I are super excited for this year and I'm especially excited to be caught up with writing blog posts and to get some new content up! We ended last year with a few cold but gorgeous hikes. The trails were empty and the views were endless. On this particular day we decided to tackle The Priest. Some stats:

  • 2.8 miles out and back
  • 1,000 feet of elevation gain
  • No waterfalls or streams
  • Views are spectacular
  • Most likely will NOT run into other hikers (not a popular trial)

We arrived to the trail head around 10:00am and it was a brisk 40 degrees. As we climbed up the side of the mountain the temperatures dropped and by the time we were at the summit it was around freezing. We only saw two other trail runners while we were there and we sat in silence eating donuts and listening to a few ornery ravens calling to each other. It's a beautiful hike on an easy to follow trail, actually, it's the Appalachian Trail so it's very easy to follow.
